5 Million Stars. This probably hit harder for me because I am a mom but wow. I swooned. I sweat. I was an anxiety ridden mess towards the end. Prepare to fall in love with Knox Eden.

"He was going to make me fall in love with him, wasn't he?"

"You are... you are a dream. I gave up on those."

"I'm going to take all of your best days. Every damn one until you can't keep track of the top five anymore because there are so many bests that you'll need a hundred to capture them all."

I honestly don’t know what Devney Perry put into these book, but I’m addicted!
Memphis is such a beautiful character inside and out. And so so relatable 🫶🏻
And Knox – who doesn’t like a chef?!👨🏻‍🍳

Tropes
small town romance
single mom
grumpy MMC
found family
forced proximity

Unpopular opinion but this was far from being my favourite. While I can acknowledge the fact that the love story was super sweet I just was so done with the super depressive vibe. I feel like half of the book was our FMC crying and, listen, I am a cry-baby myself, but I read to cheer myself up, so maybe I'm really the wrong public for this type of story. It felt repetitive to me and I had to take a break from this book before diving back into it to finish it.

I'd say that so far with Devney Perry, I find myself absolutely loving the characters (I mean Knox was PERFECTION), the family's interactions (even though in this one I would have wished for more of it) how welcoming they are and all, the small town vibes is always immaculate, BUT I do find that the mystery parts are always a bit off paced for me. It's like you get hints that something is going on, and then we don't talk about it for the longest time to focus on the romance and then suddenly it all comes to an abrupt ending and revelations that are so fast-paced, so I don't find myself looking for clues so much or being blown away by anything cause it just "poof" happens, and it's over, do I make sense?

Anyway, I can still admit that this was a sweet story overall, and I did enjoy seeing our characters form such a cute little family. It certainly was healing and a joy to see. There were many swoony moments and I love Knox and Memphis together. The found family vibe like always was super satisfying, and I am still super curious to get to the other family member's stories.
