Dune was okay, but kind of dry (ha ha). I enjoyed the aesthetics (ride your sandworm into battle!!!) but idk why Paul was "the chosen one", and idk why we were supposed to care about that. (Dune summarised: desert Jesus moves to Tatooine)

I feel like this book was way too long, but equally didn't spend enough time on developing any of the characters. Paul was mostly just annoying and up himself and I didn't really "get" him or his motivations. He could see the future but like... never did much with that? Everything felt very surface level. I feel like the plot spent too much time on some points, and then completely glossed over other things. I didn't like the time skip. The ending battle felt "too easy". The ending was very abrupt.

Things I liked: I really enjoyed the Baron's voice actor, even at 1.75 speed. He was my favourite purely for that.
SANDWORMS
I also really liked Jessica and the creepy little sister.
I wanted more of Feyd Rautha, I love a little evil dude and he didn't get enough screen time to be that.

Will I read the sequels?
Probably not

I’m not a huge sci-fi fan but this is a great book. Really enjoyed the characters that were created and the world.

Wow, I read this 15 years ago and had forgotten much of the plot. Impressive worldbuilding and political conniving...

Wowowowowow top 2 book of the year so far.

The blueprint for so many inspirations, a perfectly paced book in my opinion.
Ate this shit up, a little worried there’s gonna be a sophomore slump in messiah.
Taking a break from the series but if javi continues, shoooooooooo let’s get it.
