This may be the best book I've ever read. Why, because there is a character named MICHAEL BARR, that's why. A brief snippet, which actually sounds biographical:
"Michael Barr lived in a mansion on Scott Street that was more like a fortress, one that Barr had originally purchased for thirty million dollars back in the 1990s. If Michael Barr wasn't the wealthiest person in San Francisco, he was close enough."
Oh, he also happens to be an international arms dealer, but let's focus on this positives here, shall we?
Check it out.

Jenny Wolf grew up in a family of Wolves, both in name and nature. Her father's favorite motto? "Kill or be killed." Except now, he has been. Killed that is. And he's left Jenny most of his business, including the San Francisco Wolves NFL team and a newspaper. Someone isn't happy about that, and they're going out of their way to push Jenny out.
The family dynamics in The House of Wolves were twisted! If you've ever had a dysfunctional family or relationship, you might relate to Jenny a little bit. I know that some of it had me nodding, but even then, it got dark quick.
I did find some of the scenes to be a little bit too dramatic, and absurd. It almost felt like a telenovela at times. At one point, I literally made a comment about Jack, the oldest brother, saying "dramatic, much?" because of his ridiculous monologue.
I also felt like the end was super anticlimactic and the so called plot twists weren't twists at all, but rather throw ins. Characters we'd never met before were introduced, and random changes were made at the very end.
Despite all this, the book moved fairly quickly, so that I didn't absolutely hate it either. I finished it fairly quickly, and didn't dread it the entire time. You won't be seeing me pick up the sequel though.

This was escapism at its best! Mystery but not terrifying. I loved all of it.
