The romance is a lil' sus. Between a godchild and his godfather.
A must-read for fans of steampunk, political intrigue and ofc, lgbt+ love story!
I have already read the fan translation before but I never tire of this story. The translation done here is perfect, the story and its character compelling and the book itself is gorgeous!
I cannot wait until January for the second volume.

too much ableism, i didn't see the point in it. there's a difference between blatant ableism and for the disabled character to get comments which they'll prove wrong later on.

***3.5***
I like the world building in this book and how all the characters are complex and multiple dimensional. It’s nice to see ppl who are disabled still be strong and also use aides without it seen as bad in some way in a novel. It’s also nice to see a story where they actually acknowledge that a person in their teens is still immature and a child(some of these ya authors write 16 year olds like they’re 30)
I’m giving this a 3.5 instead of a four because there are some plot points that could take a concerning turn in the future novels. They also could be handled in a really good way too, so I’m gonna give this series a chance and see what happens.

This was entertaining, and the quality of the publication (illustrations, printing, binding) is really nice. The physical experience of reading this book is pleasing. But I can certainly tell the episodic nature of its original composition. There is very little sense of broader plot structure--which makes it easy to pick up and put down, but leaves me feeling a little unsatisfied when I finished the book. I may well read the rest in the series, though. It's fun and undemanding with lovely illustrations and pretty vibes.
