I’m a sucker for hockey romance, and this one was really good. Riley and Cam went from friends to more in HS before it all fell apart when Cam ran to the West coast for college instead of attending with Riley. Riley seems to have thrived, while Cam is a transfer student, now joining Riley for senior year and looking for a fresh start on the team. Their past is threatening to tank both their seasons though if they can’t learn to work together. They both stink at communicating, and they spend so much time fighting… But when they finally decide to use their words, they’re SO much better together! I’m excited for more of this series…
4.25 ⭐ The steam was well written and kinky. The characters were likable and fated mates. Nice story.

Second chance is everything
I adore this couple. Their struggles with communication and feelings is heartbreaking. I felt a connection to these men and their love brought me to tears.
Oh and that epilogue? Spoke to the HGTV nerd in me

Yet again I have found myself honestly enjoying a trope I tend to step carefully around simply because Hayden wrote it. Although this book does contain so many different themes. Friends to Enemy to lovers, second chance, forced proximity, college romance, hockey romance, kink (albeit mild) and a guarantee that you will become invested in Riley and Cam; this novel honestly has something for everyone to enjoy.
What started out as two young men who were exploring their identity (and each other) before one of them simply seemed to alter their plans and leave morphs into this hugely emotional yet believable scenario where, on his return, both guys are literally thrown together 24/7 and have no option other than to hash out their anger and work through their feelings; both for the sake of their team mates and their own sanity. Truths are learnt, forgiveness is ultimately given and acceptance alongside love is abundant.
Emotion experience is what Hayden succeeds at in a way very few writers can for me; and I can always find myself so absorbed in the scene and so invested in the characters that I forget everything but reading just one more page, and another, and another. This was no exception and their HEA was well fought for.
I’m hoping for several side characters to take centre stage in their own love story and I am excited to see where this series goes

I really really tried to push through, but at 61% nothing of significance has happened and I can't keep going.

This is an angsty, emotional, MM college romance with themes of hockey players, enemies, second chances, delicious Dom/Sub (pain kink & bratty undertones). Quite the mix that sucked me in, of course I wanted the #ARC! Devoured in around 5hrs. Adored Riley & Cam!
Eachother's solace, Cam broke Riley's heart by going far away for college. Now in final year, Riley's college hockey captain. Cam has newly transferred, & a teammate. The animosity is expected, but it's hiding so much hurt & loneliness within. Fights, taunt (I found em kinda cute lol). The anger blew up to lust, a truce to play together...but they hadn't had a chance then, will they now? Or will the cycle of betrayal repeat, geography breaking em apart? Always a secret fling?
These 2 are 2 complex boys! Different insecurities hiding. Their kinkiness was a pleasantly hot surprise. Cute moments too. I really wanted more, To see some scenes that are told, but time passed by
