Jane Austen’s personal presence is far more obvious in this book than her other novels. She talks directly to the reader but for extended periods and sometimes on subjects not directly related to the book. Also the heroine of this particular novel is pretty stupid, but she is also sweet so it’s hard not to enjoy the novel, even if quite a lot of what’s going on happens above her head.
I definitely enjoyed it it’s more in the form of Emma than of Mansfield which was a relief.

look, it’s not my FAVORITE austen, but catherine “the only person in the room to not understand what’s going on, ever” morland is an idiot child and i love her very much.

Me encontré muy inmersa en el drama que ocurría pero al final me quedé esperando más de lo que se ofreció al final, excelente escritura como siempre, Jane Austen always serving with that 🤌 pero como dije, la historia me dejó sintiendo como si estuviera incompleta y no me permitió conectar realmente con la relación amorosa de los personajes, I needed more 😔

Reading Austen‘s writing feels like repeatedly banging my head against the wall. The writing and word choices are just too old for my brain to comprehend. I don‘t know anything about what Austen was writing about so there is nothing to help me contextualize whatever is said or done.
