I devoured this one in about a day. The characters, the tension, the plot. So so good. She truly shocked me on more than one occasion. The last third of the book had me on the edge of my seat. I couldn't finish it fast enough. And that ennnnnding!!! c So glad I didn't have to wait to start the second haha. I love the friendship bonds and the romantic bonds throughout. Such a great book. And it has note passing. I can't explain to you the amount that I love a note passing trope

The dialogue in this is quite bad. Some of the things people said just didn't make sense or were just plain ridiculous. There didn't seem to be any reason for the MCs to be attracted to each other. And the reactions from Bastian were so cringe at some points.

A lot of information is repeated multiple times. The fact that Nikos' parents left the Moss Coven was mentioned at least five times, in full detail. This book probably could have been cut by 50 pages if all that was removed.

Raven is apparently very powerful. However, you would never know if it wasn't constantly mentioned. No actual power to be seen in this book.

All that being said, I did enjoy the premise. The magic is interesting, the story is intriguing, and it kept my attention enough to finish it. I'll most likely read the second book because I do want to know what happens. Hopefully, the writing will improve in book two.
slow-paced

The story and world building started out strong but about 40% in it really went downhill. The dialogue was odd because it felt very modern but the setting was older.
The spicy scene after Kirsi died was really tacky.
I'm not sure if I will read the next book or just read the summary somewhere.
