This book starts slow, I almost put it down but am sooo glad I didn't! The rest of it was great and the ending! Ahhh! I cried, I laughed out loud, I blushed. What a ride. I really enjoyed the characters in this book ! The world building at the begining was a bit tedious but after the initial ground laying I couldn't put it down I read this book in under 24 hrs which is unusual for me these days. I'm not coming up for air before starting the sequel!

I really loved this book. It was so well thought out and put together. It kept me engaged the whole time. I was on the edge of my seat often.

The main girl is raven, she has no markings but is way more powerful than most marked. She enters the challenge to become a coven leader.

Dark king is bastian. Dark and broody and definitely has had his eye on our girl for much longer than they lead us to believe. He’s got a bad rep but turns out that might be because of the coven leaders???

Kirsi. My girl. The spirit animal whisperer. She’s hilarious and helps us navigate life

Fuck nikos and his controlling manipulative ass shit, his surprise. Damn.

I listened to The Unmarked Witch by Miranda Lyn on Spotify, narrated by Jacci Prior. The concept pulled me in right away—Raven Moonstone is a witch born without markings, underestimated her whole life because of it. But she’s powerful, and enters the games to claim a coven leader’s seat. The twist? The games are run by the Dark King, Bastian—a ruthless half-witch, half-shifter the witches fear and loathe. Against her will, Raven accepts the “gift” of death, planning to use it against him.

The story was intriguing and the world-building definitely sets up the next book well. That said, I found the pacing a bit slow and at times it was hard to follow through audio alone. Still, it ends on a cliffhanger and left me wanting to know what happens next—which always counts for something!
