This was just really boring. No plot, no actual story, dull characters, nothing. Didn’t expect this after reading the After-series. And it had potential.

This wasn’t as Purple Hearts core as I expected, but it still kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I’m roughly the same age as the heroine in this book and so I feel like I can confidently say that she was the least mature “mature” main character ever. Her ability to listen to logic and regulate her emotions? Non-existent.

Despite this, I didn’t have the worst time reading. The writing was much better than I assumed it would be and I really liked the friendship between the main character and her roommate. The actual romantic relationship….. ehhhh it was okay, but there was much left to be desired. Overall, my feelings on this book are both complex and unsubstantial, kind of like the main girly’s family (which I actually enjoyed the dynamics of).

I was so absolutely hooked from the beginning and I could not put this down. However, the ending felt so unresolved and rushed.

I feel like the book had potential but the author struggled with how to wrap up the book and it just didn't have the same flow as the rest of the book.
