In Pieces

Sally Field

This book has officially begun an interest in biographies and memoirs for me. Beautifully written and riveting at times.

Sorry Sally, wasn’t feeling it. She writes about very interesting experiences, humbling experiences, raw experiences. But I just didn’t connect with the book and found myself skimming through much of the book.

I purchased this book 1) because I love memoirs, and 2) because I love Sally Field in Gidget. I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect, but ended up really enjoying it. Sally is a great story teller. I loved the way she explained complicated emotions and experiences. Overall, I would call this a moving piece.

I will say, however, if you are uncomfortable with hearing the f word, or experiences with sexual assault, you may want to steer clear of this book. Those two things are present throughout the story.

Definitely recommend listening to the audiobook. It’s clear why Sally Field is an award winning actress and the emotion inflected in her reading is incredible. The whole book is filled with raw emotion.
