Pretty good book. Normally, I read the book before I watch the movie, but I absolutely couldn't wait to watch Hayao Miyazaki's amazing work. I have to say that I think the movie was a lot better, but that's probably because I'm such a huge fan of Miyazaki that I would like anything better if his name is on it.

My mom got a few of these books for me one year for Christmas. I loved them. I really hoped that we had Borrowers living in our house too. I have read the stories to my children and they both like them also.

I read this as a child and loved it. I don't know if I reread it today if it would hold the same magic, but I have always been fascinated by the idea of borrowers. The idea of little people using tiny everyday objects to make a life. I loved both the movie and miniseries. I remember renting the miniseries on VHS many times. There was a specific time in my life where reading became one of my favorite things to do. It was Harry Potter that honestly kind of changed my life; without it who knows if I would have found my love of reading in 6th grade. But before that pivotal time in my life it was this book that held my attention many times over. One of the few books as a child that I actually reread over and over again. It somehow escaped me that this was a series, and that somewhat saddens me. I'm sure I would have been delighted to read it all. Maybe in my adult life I will revisit it for my younger self.
I always saw these at the library when I was a kid but for some reason never checked them out. This was such a fun read and I am looking forward to reading the rest of them. Makes you think twice when something in the house goes missing.
