I did not remember the 'Kate' frame of the main story at all. Crazy. But, I did remember loving this book - which happily I still did.
I won this book in a colouring competition when I was 8 and have only read it now, 21 years later. An imaginative, inventive and charming classic. Forget the movie adaptations; Norton writes so beautifully that the words and characters come effortlessly to life.

Disjointed and quirky but the last line really made it for me. Read aloud with my four year old.
One of my favorite books as a child, have read and own the whole series, I even wished I was a borrower for the longest time, Pod, Homily, and little Arrietty, make a great introduction to the world of imagination, their shy, curious and funny, and god forbid that homily has to set foot in badgers den! A must read for children.
I read this one out loud to my 4 yo. He thought this one was really cool and that little people could live in the walls. :) hehe!
