i read this for school once upon a time, and honestly, probably the first book i read for school that i enjoyed

I feel like Lois Lowry knows how to give good imagery.

Overall, the giver was a great tale. I loved how the whole story built up.

I actually had to read this book in ninth grade and I remember at the time I was reading the maze Runner for fun and I feel like it had some of the same comparisons but without like the full adventurous thrill for all the characters.

While in the giver, only the main character got to live through the adventures and see the world through a different lens while everybody else was forced to live to a certain status quo.

I will definitely have to read the sequel after this, hopefully dives deeper into the journey of Jonah.

it was interesting all the way through! that’s a tough benchmark for many books. i wonder what teen me woulda thought reading this book, adult me is happy we do not deal with Sameness. a great many other troubles take its place, but Uniqueness is queen.

What a wonderful book! I would recommend this to many students throughout middle school and high school. I remember reading it in high school, but it was great to reintroduce myself to this book.
