This book is fantastic, I just adored it. It is not your 'normal' type romance but perfect, just the same.

Sarina Bowen has an amazing skill of writing incredible characters and making them seem believable and real. Not just as people but their experiences and what they are going through. That rang true with this book even more.

More to follow

I loved this book. Corey Callahan is badass despite being partially paralyzed from an accident playing hockey. And Adam Hartley is a mess of contradictions within a hot hockey player body. I loved the two of them from the first pages of the book. She broke my heart and then made me cheer when she picked herself up and lived life with a vengeance. And he made me want to punch him when he was a complete ass but then sigh when he got his crap together. They fit beautifully together and it made my heart happy. Did it all come together a bit too neatly towards the end? Sure. Do I care? Nope. Did I buy the second book already? Yup.

Meh

NA books aren’t usually my thing but I’m really enjoying this series!

Loved how they actually were good friends before anything else, the slow build up was awesome. Wished we could've seen more of them! Such a cute couple. I didn't completely agree with the way Adam handled some things, but oh well, it was still an incredibly entertaining book.

I’m so glad Hartley redeemed himself. I’ve never had a book boyfriend break my heart before, but he came pretty close! Dana can be my best friend if she wants! Bridger too! I was instantly intrigued by Hartley and Corey bonding over their lower limbs. They literally became fast friends over crutches. How great would it be if all adult friendships, especially in college, came that easy!? I formed an opinion of Stacia very quickly: I don’t like her. As a person, or as Hartley’s girlfriend, or as someone in his life. But, like I said, Hartley redeemed himself, so all is forgiven. Hartley friend zoned himself, and when he confessed to why he called Corey by her last name, I felt for him. My heart ached. Their friendly bond escalated in the name of science! And I. Am. Here. For. It. I honestly wasn’t expecting this to surpass the PG line, but boy did it! The trust they shared. Over and over again, Hartley and Corey gave each other their all. I loved the way Corey went about putting space between her and Hartley. She knew her worth, and wasn’t willing to throw him any bones. Hartley giving the ice back to Corey is one of the most romantic gestures I’ve ever heard of. I nearly cried! Hartley doesn’t deserve Corey. But the true Adam Hartley deserves her. And it was so rewarding, as a reader, to be given the gift of their happy ending! The ending felt like a soft kiss on the tip of the nose. Enough to sigh, but needing more in a way that didn’t feel lacking. Also worth noting, “where do you keep your goalies, I’m all out” is one of the BEST lines ever written!

My Favorite Quotes:
•”Don’t make me beg, Callahan. It’s hard on the knee.”
•”There’s no more perfect, Callahan. Now there’s only really damned good.”
•”You have me, Callahan.”
•”I want everything. I want you to be the same with me that you were with other girls.” “But it’s not the same with you. I never loved anyone the way I love you.”
•”You waited for me. I’d wait for you.”
•”I’d never baby you, Callahan. You’re the toughest person I know.”
•”We are two normal people, you dope.”
•”Don’t hide those. It took me months to get my shit together so that I could see them.”

6/10 Dirty Birdy
9/10 Friends to Lovers
7/10 Sports Romance

Wonderful. The characters were well developed, the friendship-to-romance was lovely and it was just an overall great book.

I thought why not?

This is so not a normal style of read for me but I loved it so much. I’ll definitely be checking out more of this series / more by this author.
