this book has literally so much going on and somehow still says nothing. it is capital B Bad!!!! 1.5 stars but i will round up to 2 because i'm very nice and it's women's history month.
i hate when books have an awesome concept and doodoo writing. the prose is trying so hard to be quirky and whimsical that it's incoherent half the time. nothing makes sense, we are thrown into the story with zero worldbuilding or intro to the characters and it just comes off as lazy writing if you ask me. and then there's these chapters where we see inconsequential snippets of the characters' adult lives, and all of them share the same freaking voice. this book has nothing meaningful to say about girlhood or about anything really. the people in the reviews saying it's virgin-suicides-ethel-cain-bunny-florida-project-whatever-core are Liars and Liars go to HELL!!!!!!!
