I've read a lot of actor/film memoirs/biographies over the years and this one was really one of the best. If, like me, you have any sort of fondness for The Princess Bride, then this will gently accentuate that. It's a very warm book, an interesting insight into film making, but also terribly kind too. Everyone's affection for each other, for Andre the Giant, for the film they've made just jumps off the page. Just a really lovely read.
A fun and humble look back at some of the experiences of making "The Princess Bride." I'm looking forward to watching the movie again soon so I can keep an eye out for some of the scenes into which else's offered insight.

As a huge Princess Bride movie (and book) fan, this book was an incredible joy to read.
I listened to it on audiobook, and I can wholeheartedly say that is the ONLY way this book should be read. The inclusion of stories from most of the other stars (mainly read by the stars themselves) was a WONDERFUL addition that I can only assume was not in the written copy. And Cary's voice is just so soothing, and his voice acting is unbelievably good, that I feel like I got more out of it that way.
I teared up multiple times while listening to this book because of how much The Princess Bride meant to every single person involved in its creation. It's truly beautiful to hear that something that has brought me such joy and meant so much to me over the years was also joyful to make and meant so much to those responsible for it. It's such a gift to have everyone involved in the movie understand why the story means so much to the audience, too. Since many of the people involved with the film were fans of the book before making the movie, they appreciate the wonder and joy it brought to them, and they did an amazing job bringing it to the screen. This book highlights how much the experience of making The Princess Bride meant to Cary (and everyone else who submitted stories, too) every chance it gets, and I love it for that.
I enjoyed hearing chapters dedicated to different actors and how Cary spoke about people like Andre with such sweetness. Everyone got their moment to shine in the movie, and it was the same in this book. As a fan, I'd heard quite a few of the stories included in the book at one time or another, but hearing them told by those who lived them was something else entirely and I'm SO glad I read it!
I grinned uncontrollably while listening to this book, and I cried hearing the fondness everyone involved had - and still has - for the story. The Princess Bride movie is magical, and of you're a huge fan of it, this book is an absolute must-read.
