A fun, informative, heart-warming and quick read for fans of The Princess Bride, even if Cary Elwes's paeans to everyone in and around the film were occasionally grating. The book will give you an appreciation for the serendipity and talent that created this movie. The book on Audible is narrated by Elwes and has comments by Billy Crystal, Robin Wright, Rob Reiner, William Goldman, Carol Kane, Mandy Patinkin, Wallace Shawn and Fred Savage

A super fun read. I read the book first, then this book, and now I need to watch the movie.
It’s a playful and appreciative book, with tellings from many perspectives. The audiobook is even read by many of the characters.
It has a casual playfulness about it that reminds me of going to a wedding or reunion as someone’s plus one, and sitting around a table as old friends come together to reminisce about great memories, funny laughs, outrageous moments. Where your date is filling you in as you go so that you remain in the loop, and can appreciate the stories.
I get the feeling from the book that filming this movie specifically was very unique compared to the norm for the industry, in that the cast resided, spent time with and even ate their meals and took their breaks together. We’re lead to understand that normally a cast will disburse after each days filming and reconvene the next day, and it sounds like isolation of filming location, a tight schedules, and some very specific details required that they essentially became a small family for a short period of time.
And I find the movie very sweet, so this was a fast fun read for me. I liked it a lot.

A great audiobook that paints a wonderful picture of the lives of the cast behind one of my favorite movies of all time. I’m so happy I opted to listen to the audiobook version of this book because hearing Carey’s voice alongside all the other wonderful people who contributed to this film made learning about their experiences that much better.

A delightful listen about the making of one of my favorite movies. Thankfully I didn't learn anything horrible or scandalous about any of the creators. The one complaint I have, if you can even call it that, is that I would have loved to hear more of the experiences of other actors on making the parts of the movie that Cary Elwes wasn't in. But he's the one who wrote the book, so it makes sense that it's more about his experiences. If you're a fan of the movie, this is a nice time learning a bit more about its history.
