I didn't finish this.
It's ... fine, and hearing Cary Elwes narrate anything makes me happy. He's got a great talent for voices, and his speaking voice is also lovely as well.
But this was such a bland book. There's nothing inconceivable about the fact that Elwes had to train long and hard to do his swordfight with Mandy Patinkin. Anyone who knows anything about Andre the Giant is aware that he was a giant who ate a lot and had significant health issues; anyone with eyes can see that Robin Wright is beautiful. (Did we really need the amount of gushing about how beautiful she was? From multiple voices? As if she had no other qualities?)
It's inoffensive, but I listened to it the way I sometimes listen to stories I've heard a bunch of times: I left the room several times to shuttle something to the other room, or pack my lunch for the next day, and never felt the desire or need to pause the narration, or even that I missed anything.
Meh.
(I gave this book the same amount of time that I give all audiobooks: 2 hours, or, there and back again, as my commute is 1 hour each way. If a book fails to capture my attention in that time, it gets returned to the library and I try something else the next day.)

Sweet behind the scenes. Not a literary masterpiece by any means but hard to knock such an earnest tale.
A more perfect movie than The Princess Bride? I don't believe it exists. This was an impulse-listen (I desperately needed something to listen to while I was at the gym) and it was SUCH a good one--so much fun and so many cool anecdotes about the process of making The Princess Bride and all the larger-than-life (sometimes literally) individuals behind the scenes making it. It sounds like the movie was as much fun to make as it is to watch, and there's something incredibly wholesome about that.
Also, highly recommend the audiobook--it's full cast, which in this case, means the full cast of the movie! Everyone has their own little section of recollections, anecdotes, and so on, and with a few notable exceptions, it's almost the whole cast of the movie reading their own parts of the audiobook. Cary Elwes narrates most of the book, which was a real treat.

This was so fun to listen to with his voice and the voices of many others involved in the movie. It was well written and I loved all the insights. If you love the Princess Bride, this is a must read.

The Princess Bride isn’t just a movie to me; it’s a cornerstone of my life. I’ve watched it over a hundred times, and it never loses its charm. So, diving into Cary Elwes’ As You Wish felt like catching up with an old friend.
Elwes’ storytelling is as engaging as his on-screen presence. The book offers a delightful behind-the-scenes look at the making of the film, filled with anecdotes that made me appreciate the movie even more. Listening to the audiobook added another layer of enjoyment, especially with contributions from other cast members like Billy Crystal and Robin Wright, who shared their memories in their own voices.
This memoir isn’t just for fans; it’s for anyone who appreciates the magic of filmmaking and the bonds formed during such a unique project. It reminded me why The Princess Bride has remained my all-time favorite for so long.
