Not a review but a comment on chronology of the stories: although identified as "Miss Marple's Last Case" (by publication date, 1976), this novel takes place much, much earlier (late 1940s I'd guess).
I base this on:
- pictures of Princesses Elizabeth, Margaret Rose, and "the King in Naval uniform";
- characters travelling via sea to India ~19 yrs prior for tea planting. I infer that there was less English commercial involvement in India in the 1950s than the 1920s, and air travel would have been more common by the late '50s;
- and Miss Marple seems much more active than in the 2 prior books, "At Bertram's Hotel" and "Nemesis"; there are fewer references to her needing to rest, fewer comments on her age by others, etc.

It's classic Christie. All the clues are there you just have to be Miss Marple to see them.
This was just not Agatha Christie at her best but I had it on my bookshelf for ages. Mystery and characters were tepid and I figured it out before the reveal.
Need a mystery palate cleanser after this one!

So clever and highly enjoyable! I don't know how many times I've this Miss Marple book, but it's pretty close to three digits. There's so much I love about this particular Agatha Christie book including:
❊ Newly married couple
❊ House set up
❊ Devon coast
❊ Gardens frequently described
❊ Past mystery brought to present
❊ Cozy details
❊ Unexpected ending
This cozy mystery novel is also wonderful via audio book, especially if it's the version narrated by Stephanie Cole. She's amazing!
Sleeping Murder will always be in my top two favorite Agatha Christie novels of all time, even though I hardly ever hear anyone talk about it. It might be her last book but, to me, it's close to being her best. Highly recommended!

Gripping and clever as ever, guessing till the very last moment!
