Read Harder Challenge 2020 #9 Read the LAST book in a series

One of the ones that I always remember vividly, a good read

Recommended by a young friend who read it as a class assignment. Definitely worth the read.

Haven't read a classic in a while; the language was difficult to accept at first.  Forgot that I love Miss Marple because they are genuine mysteries - I can almost never tell who did it before the end!

I like this Marple, though she is a bit in the back seat with the married couple taking center stage. But Marple here does work as an older, wiser adviser. There are some wonderful bits where she and Gwenna communicate over the head of Giles as it were.

Not 16 pages in and who should I meet but delightful **Miss Marple! I had no idea this was one of her stories, and was immediately pleased to have stumbled upon her in print, all our previous meetings having been via television productions.

This being a cold rainy Saturday, preceded by a sunny gorgeous Friday perfect for my planting the four lavender plants purchased earlier in the morning, the best activity for this morning was to sit curled up by a window and finish the book. It was an easy and fun read, and I was fooled by the "who" in whodunnit.

I have nine books on reserve at the library with one ready for pickup, and two I just finished (of which this is one) overdue, so I shall don my raincoat, fine in hand, and exchange two for the price of one.

**I just noticed that when saved the title for this book notes it as a Miss Marple story. That was not apparent when I borrowed it from the library, particularly as the library version of the book is a black hardcover with a gold embossing of a woman in a hat, no facial features, with "The Agatha Christie Mystery Collection" embossed under the picture. I have presumed the woman is meant to be Ms Christie since this is the same cover image used on the previous Christie book I borrowed, which did not include Miss Marple.

And a PS – I have a feeling this story was turned into a television mystery and that I saw it years ago on PBS, our local public television station.
