A cold case, a newly wed couple and a killer on the loose. I just loved this book, especially Gwenda, I also love the determination the couple had throughout the book.
In the middle of the book i kinda guessed the killer but it was still interesting and had me on a hook.
Would recommend it to anyone who just started reading murder-mystery!

*4.5
one of my favourite marples i think. the setup is exceptional and although i did guess who the murderer would turn out to be early on, i really enjoyed the twists and turns. the only thing that might be lacking a little is the murderer's motive.
i thoroughly enjoyed many of the characters and there were comparatively little racism and even misogyny, which i'm always glad for (i don't like that so many people tend to make agatha christie out to be this totally glorious, infallible saint, when in fact, yes her writing and characterisation are sublime and her mysteries often so intricatly and perfectly set up, but she was also a bloody bigot in sooo many ways and it tends to show in almost all of her writing!)
that being said, this novel, in my opinion, shows agatha christie's ability for timing and construction soo well. everything ties in nicely, we are taken through the mystery step by step without unbearable exposition or unnecessary twists and turns. everything is necessary by the end. i can't help but contrast it to "murder at lake garda" which i read a while ago and which was the exact oposite - going on and on with no purpose.
so, yes, i thoroughly enjoyed myself!

I read this a year ago and vaguely remember it, hence my three star rating. I found the cover for this edition particularly creepy.
mysterious
Is this a Ms Marple book or is it not?
Good book, but if you have read enough mystery, the revelation comes to you early. This did not seem to me like a Miss Marple book. She had very little to contribute in terms of her role. Most of the time she was invisible and working behind the scene, and appear in her avatar only to capture the climax.
I picked up, as it had been time, read anything by Agatha Christie.
Okay if you read it. Okay if you not.
PS: It seems the book was published after the death of Christie.

Excellent Mis Marple novel. Unusual as the case stems from events that happened a long time ago
Oh, this was tantalizing. It's always the people you least expect. Sometimes it's a character you've completely glossed over because they seemed so irrelevant, other times it's someone so involved that you end up glossing over them as well! Fun, fun read.
