Once and for All

Sarah Dessen

I always enjoy Sarah Dessen's novels about young love. Her teenaged characters may have to deal with realistic challenges such as divorce, addiction, or neglectful parents but somehow their friends always come through for them and their is always a sweet romance.

So incredibly sad

I enjoyed this one, just as I tend to enjoy every Sarah Dessen. I must say, once she described Ambrose as tall and lanky, with swoopy hair, all I pictured for the rest of the book was Even from Skam.

Even

This was short and sweet and cute and just like every other book the author has written. Oh well, I still enjoyed it.

Waffling between 3/4 stars is been 5 years since I read a Sarah Dessen novel, which I gobbled up as a teen. It was an enjoyable read, a little predictable... but that is part of the comfort of a summer beach read. Glad to dip back into the town of Lakeview.

Loved it!!!

You can always count on Sarah Dessen for a great summer read. Once and For All did not disappoint. It had a great friend and mom. What stood out the most was the quirky guy and all the weddings! At first, I wasn’t a big fan of the bet that was involved, because bets always seem to cause problems. It ended up being ok, though. When I was done with the book, I was disappointed that Ambrose was such a strong character and Louna was annoyed with him most of the time. She fell flat compared to him. Other than that, it was good and I’m glad that I got to read it.
funny lighthearted medium-paced

I like so much of Dessen's earlier stuff but I find that lately her story lines and characters seem tired and dull, and this book just fell on its face. I wish I liked it, but it was a yawn, especially the supposed "bet" between the two main characters.

The book seems all light and fluffy, then the author throws in a school shooting. I'm all for having twists and turns in a book, but this is an integral part of the story, and I think you should know it exists before you decide to read this book.
