2.75, really couldn’t connect with this story. Was my least favorite of this author books.
Predictable but still incredibly cute. Sad at times but that just made the funny parts even better.

I haven't read a Sarah Dessen book in such a long time. And when I originally picked up this book I had just read 3 other amazing contemporaries and I can tell you that this book was just as amazing as I thought it would be. This book is more than just a romance, it talks about real life issues, talks about important topics (that I don't wan to spoil so you should just read the book to find out for yourself!) which makes the book even more realistic. I loved every part of this book. The grief that Louna feels throughout this book feels so real. Her journey throughout the book was just amazing. And the support that she has from her amazing mother and her amazing friend just made me love the book even more.
Sarah Dessen novels and summer just go together. Is this the best book you will read this year? No, is it perfect for reading poolside during a hot summer day? Yes
An avid reader of Dessen as a teen, her books always provide a sense of comfort to me, even now as an adult. I will admit I found myself having difficulties getting into this one, but was relieved when I felt myself hit the part of the book that made me think "yes, this is the Sarah Dessen I know and love." While this definitely was not my favorite (The Truth About Forever, Just Listen, Lock and Key ) I am glad I read it. I liked Ambrose and Louna a lot, and I appreciated the message in this book. My only criticism is that I wish Dessen had spent more time looking into the impact a school shooting can have on not only the victims, but the ripple that stems from such a tragedy. We saw this a bit with the way Louna- and as a consequence her friends and family- reacted to the news of another shooting, but I think there was more that could have been developed there.
It is YA week, and I have been trying to read books by authors that my students are fans of. I've never read a Sarah Dessen book before, and this one seemed like a good choice, as it has been on the top 10 YA books list at my local library for a long time. It was a cute story, with normal teenage characters. I didn't love it (there were some situations/characters that seemed way too convenient and unrealistic), but it was cute. Very lighthearted and girly. Not something that I typically like or read, but now I have a better grasp on Dessen's style as I talk to students about her other books.
I think I've read every Sarah Dessen book. This was not my favorite.
