I read this before anything else in the series, but was promised it was a stand-alone and it was! Had no issues following the story and the breaks between Chih telling the story and the tigers interrupting was a really cool way to frame everything. Plus like, mammoths. Love those guys. Quick read, interesting book structure, good plot!
