I wasn’t a big fan of this story. It felt a bit too dry and focused on a male fantasy. Reacher’s character is so infallible that it makes the story a bit predictable. The characters are one-dimensional, and the female characters either fall victim to danger or are used for sexual purposes. The villains are a bit too exaggerated and just plain boring. I wish I could go back and have my time back on this one.

this was my first foray into audio books.

An interesting way to "read" a book. I certainly read faster then the narrator talked. It took some 30 hours to get through the book. But it was ok to listen to in the car.

the actual story itself was good. not great, but good. a solid plot and believable characters for the most part. As this is book one in the series i will probably read book two. Read it this time, as i was getting deeper and deeper into the book and starting to commit to the characters i kept saying in my head to talk faster.

all in all a good book, a solid murder mystery with enough twists and turns to keep me guessing and even guessing wrong at one point. so if you are a fan of the murder mystery gendre you will probably like this.

The first book in the Jack Reacher series - my favorite fiction, bar none. Read them all. Then you might like the Elvis Cole novels by Robert Crais or the Myron Bolitar series by Harlan Coben.

Overall the show was VERY true to the book. Some minor changes but nothing detrimental. Reacher is an interesting character to read.

-alright. Opening just like the show.
-i need someone to discuss that the point of a forgery is to pass minor scrutiny.
-I think I’m bothered by the implied intimacy between reacher and Roscoe. In the show it feels like an option. But the book is feeling more… obsession???

It's by no means brainless, but the jack reacher series is an easy, really fun read, especially to break up some heavy reading. Plus, the character is a total badass & it makes you feel kinda badass in a way, almost like gangster rap. Thug life.

We meet Jack Reacher for the first time, as the tough ex-military cop of no fixed abode. Trained to think fast and act faster, he is the perfect action hero for when times get tough. Margrave is a no-account little town in Georgia. Jack Reacher steps off a bus and walks fourteen miles in the rain to reach it, in search of a dead guitar player. But Margrave has just had its first homicide in thirty years. And Reacher is the only stranger in town. He seems the obvious fall guy. As the body count mounts, only one thing is for sure: they picked the wrong guy to frame for murder.
The first book in the series & I’m a bit on the fence, I liked Reacher, eventually & the pace was good but I’m coming late to the party & things have moved on since it was first published in the last century & it was a bit outdated for me. Would I read more, probably if only to see if things move with the times
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
