I Hated You First

“I felt Clay’s gaze all the way to the center of me. His admiration was not for show. It was not an act. It was solely about me and for me, and it filled me up more than any pretty words could ever do.”

Lauren and Clay have known each other since they were kids. Clay’s bestfriend is Parker, which happens to be Lauren’s half-brother. The relationship between the two half-siblings isn’t the best: always arguing and never getting a long. Because of that, she’s completely off limits. Did I also mention that they’re coworkers and they happen to hate each other?

Clay has been secretly crushing on Lauren for 7 years. Instead of telling her how he feels, because of the fear of how his best friend would react, he chooses to pretend that he doesn’t like her. Also the fact that her dad is his boss and dating isn’t allowed at work.

After going on a blind-double date with Clay, they both have a hard time hiding their feelings for each other. They decided to keep their relationship a secret especially from Parker and Lauren’s dad. At some point, things start to get out of control. What will happen when Lauren’s family finds out about her secret relationship with Clay?

Fine, but nothing really happens. Very low angst. So low angst it borders on boring.
