Supernatural Academy - Anno due è il secondo volume dell’omonima trilogia fantasy.
La fine del primo volume mi aveva lasciato con molte domande e in questo secondo libro alcune di esse hanno trovato una risposta ma, allo stesso tempo, ne ha fatte sorgere altre. Amore, fiducia, colpi di scena e momenti adrenalinici mi hanno tenuto compagnia per quasi quattrocento pagine. Una cosa è certa: con Maddi e gli Atlantidei non si può mai stare tranquilli.
Anche questa volta l’autrice ha fatto un lavoro impressionante nella caratterizzazione dei personaggi e parlo di tutti, non solo della protagonista.
L’amicizia avrà un ruolo fondamentale, così come la fiducia. Come vi accennavo prima, Maddi dovrà affrontare momenti molto complicati e questo la farà crescere anche se in un modo che non si sarebbe mai aspettata. Da questo punto di vista ho apprezzato molto la sua evoluzione e devo dire che prende sempre molto bene tutte le strabilianti novità che la riguardano. Dimostra di avere una grandissima abilità a adattarsi alle diverse situazioni, anche quelle che metterebbero a dura prova chiunque. Lei ha carattere da vendere e sottovalutarla non è mai la scelta più saggia, anche perché i suoi poteri sono in continua evoluzione. E qui vorrei aprire una piccola parentesi. Non ho niente nei confronti dei personaggi pieni di risorse, ci mancherebbe, quello che fatico ad accettare sono gli eccessi e anche in questo libro l’autrice calca troppo la mano sulla questione dei poteri. È vero che stiamo parlando degli dèi ma nel mondo magico l’equilibrio è fondamentale, non la smetterò mai di ripeterlo. Ma devo arrendermi al fatto che io e l’autrice la vediamo in modo diverso ed è giusto così.
La trama ha un buona evoluzione, anche grazie a un ritmo narrativo di tutto rispetto. A un certo punto accadrà qualcosa che mi ha davvero sconvolto, soprattutto perché non me lo sarei mai aspettato e in questo momento il ritmo rallenta.Lo stile di scrittura di Jaymin Eve si conferma molto efficacie; la sua penna è scorrevole, diretta, molto attenta a captare le diverse sfumature e avvincente.
Anche in questo romanzo non mancheranno i colpi di scena e le rivelazioni importanti. La parte finale è stata emozionante e non vedo l’ora di poter leggere l’ultimo capitolo di questa bella trilogia.

This one was a bit too long. Ironically, the time jumps really don't help the story. I don't understand why the author is so stubborn to write one book for a year at the academy when she just wipes out months and months.
How can Maddi and Asher have their mortal shells destroyed and still be them again when they get back to the academy ? Why, when they're in their demigod state, do they still look like their human bodies ? It doesn't make any sense, it's so confusing.
The back and forth between Maddison and Asher was annoying. He ignored her completely, then tells her he's her ally, then ignores her for a month, then decides he doesn't want to fight his link to her ? She goes from mourning to sadness to arousal to angst to arousal again and to happiness... And we have to believe they are 22 years old - I think Asher is older than that...
The trial of the Clovers was boring and it was not relevant to the plot. Why bother include them ?
I'm guessing Rayge will have his own book in an other series because that scene came out of the blue.
Last thing, but I think weird how the author uses "dark" to describe some of the characters skin tone. Larissa is supposed to have "dark skin" but she a blonde ? So how "dark" her skin can be ? Same goes to Ileah, Jesse but she never says they're people of color... Is this the author's fetish ? Is this how Ariana Grande describes herself ?
