I didn’t actually really like how Aiza is portrayed as very naive, but later on I understand that it is the main point of this story. How everything is not what it seems on the beginning. Also just like what Nadia said at the ends of the story, Squire is a book that tells about how history can be a weapon once it’s wielded. How it can be used to justify a wrongdoings of an empire to make people think they can serves for the good. It delivers the message of the story clearly on point and in a very easy way to digest. I also love how it has an open ending, to shows that even after we fought the ‘bad guy’, the problem isn’t completely solved unless the whole system changes.

A beautifully rendered fantasy inspired by the Middle East and the Ottoman empire. A realistic and timely story of friendship, war, and the reality of empire whose message will resonate for years to come. I liked that this was a smaller story in a larger world. I hope they come back with a sequel!
