Not usually the type of book I go for. It’s good for a change, was very informative about addictions. Might even be one of the best addiction representation I’ve encountered. One flaw, it was extremely slow imo. I almost dnf’d bcuz it was threatening to put me back into my reading slump.

Did I want to get haunted? Absolutely not. Thank you, Clay, for scaring me sober with this one. I definitely forgot about many an opened beer while I read Ghost Eaters.
I was surprised by how easily and wonderfully this novel took the eerie or dreadful and turned each into something substantial and profound. I didn’t expect to care about the main character as deeply as I did, nor did I know I was going to be as hooked as she was on her trip. It’s not a tired cliche to ask the reader to appreciate that it is our memories that haunt the houses of our lives, and Ghost Eaters rewards with a very rich and engrossing narrative to remind us this valuable insight. What could save a life is learning through death that we want to live.
Thematically powerful with characters that read real and true, the novel is fun and as such is an easy page-turner despite some truly heavy content. Helps that one of those opening chapters has one of my favorite bands setting the tone. (Municipal Waste is gonna- F*CK YOU UP!) Highly recommended.

I didn't think this was gonna be that good, but damn. That ending? Really gives you the chills. Addiction is a really powerful thing and the ending really encapsulates how hard it is to pull back from it.

Great read!

Deeply sad story but a fascinating exploration of addiction through the lens of what it means to be haunted
