the first 3.5 parts were so good then it got chaotic and the ride wasn't even fun. it does have potential and I do think it would make a really good miniseries.
Ghost Eaters follows Erin, whose ex-boyfriend Silas dies of an overdose. Grieving after his death, she and two other friends begin using the drug Ghost to attempt to contact him in the afterlife. As everyone whose ever read a ghost story knows, this is a very bad idea. Things quickly take a turn for the worse, and Erin struggles to break her addiction to the drug and to make it out alive.
Ghost Eaters is a wicked and disturbing novel, a clever take on the haunted house story. Like the best of horror, it uses the genre as a lens to examine contemporary issues, tackling addiction, grief, and weight of Southern history. In its treatment of the latter, it reminded me of Candyman, which also grapples frankly with ghosts and the sins of the past. I recommend it, and hope someone options it soon because I think it would make a great film or TV show.
Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for an early copy of this book.

I would rather watch golf in black and white while a shark ate my liver than read this trash again. I am disappointed in myself for finishing this hunk of garbage instead of just deleting it from my Kindle after 5 minutes.

Narrator was really good given the material she was working with. This book seemed unsure of what it wanted to be. It started off more like a ghost/ paranormal story but I “think” in the end it was all a metaphor for drug addiction. Meh.
"Ghost Eaters" captivated me from the start, making it impossible to put down. The blend of grief and addiction is incredibly poignant, immersing readers in the turmoil of a mind grappling with loss. The portrayal of addiction is raw and honest, highlighting its complexities and the desperate lengths one might go to in the face of pain. While the story is heartbreaking, it’s also profoundly compelling. Overall, it's an amazing read that lingers long after you turn the last page.
What a wild ride. I hated it but I loved hating it (it made me so squirmy but it was seriously addicting). I will never do drugs after reading this haha.
