It's been a long time since I've been scared by a ghost story. Here's why: this is an exploration into addiction. The niceties, the quiet struggle of addicts is heroic, though often tragic. That's the scary part. This work is correct by demonstrating how anyone can become an addict -- pick your substance. The work is allegorical whilst simultaneously spooky AF.

A must read!

This book had potential but I stopped caring about Erin and really all of them before I even got a quarter of the way through the book. By halfway or even before then I wanted it to end. For half the story I was like where is the ghost element. But the just named a drug ghost. I couldn’t get behind it as a ghost story and was caught up with it being just a drug induced hallucinations. The end I got interested and invested but was upset that it was the end. I definitely thought where the f*** was this the entire time. I agree with the other reviews about it being different story trains that just didn’t melt well together, which is sad.

Lots of mushrooms, lots of ghosts licking people, baby ghosts without faces, drugs, and naked orgie-seance-things. I wanted a book about ghosts, and that is what this is. Alright!

I appreciated the shoutouts to ghosts as rooted in a city's history. I liked that each of the 4 parts felt distinct but still continued the same plot/story. Really liked all the lore/fleshed-out premise that this story got. Nice twist, good prose, bleak ending.

This was a good story for running/audiobooking. I didn't love the narration delivery, though, in that some of the characters' voices sounded like jokes. Also, I ended up pausing this book to read something for bookclub, and I think I just lost momentum/it was a bit hard to pick this back up.

This book was ok, unexpected. The beginning was a little slow but about halfway through it picked up and got really interesting.

Absolutely horrendous, repugnant, heartbreaking and beautifully written. It was both absolutely bonkers and yet way too real for my emotions. I will never recover.

a little heavy handed at the end but overall a great story and wonderful storytelling.

What did I like about this book?
1.)...........
That should sum it up. The idea of this book was good, but in no way was this what I expected. I thought there would be more of a paranormal thriller feel. All it felt like to ME was a story about the troubles of addiction.
