After nearly two months of near-DNF-ing, I finished this book. And I gotta say, I did not expect that. It was slow and really old-timey (tho that's more of a me thing) at times, but in the parts where it wasn't, you could really see how well done this book was. Gene at times was a questionably good narrator and John Knowles did a really good job of showing not telling
Ngl tho, I really thought we'd see something between Finny and Gene, but nonetheless, a good book.

DID NOT FINISH

so boring i’m sorry

I liked the connection the author made to the war going on in the world, WWII, and the war that was going on within Gene. It depicted very well the loss of innocence everyone goes through. 3.5/5

Talk about taking "pulling pigtails" too far...

This book felt like a long, warm hug that quickly became a slap in the face.
