Содержание книги современный автор размазал бы на 800 страниц, а Ноулз в шестидесятых (?) уложился в двести, да еще и успел на них сказать что-то умное и полезное.

i honestly don’t even know where to begin. this was boring, i have no other words.
let’s start at the beginning, chapter one, that part in “present?” day, was the entire book a flashback?
Phineas shattering his leg cause of Gene and not giving two fucks? um hello? what the fuck was that.
Gene straight up telling him “yeah i was trolling. i’m the reason why you broke your leg” and Phineas going “Dunno what you’re talking about” to Phineas being “you always wanted me to fail, of course i knew it was you who was the reason why i broke my leg”
and this was sad…? i couldn’t even get attached to the characters in the first place, let alone care when Phineas died. (the only character i could feel for was Leper… cause like mental health issues, i get it)
and how, how was thing a best seller for 50 years? it literally took me over 2 hours to read a single chapter. i don’t even think i can recommend this to anyone. i was told it was gay and y’know if it was more than just alluded then maybe i could as a romance to someone who likes a historical fiction or enjoys wasting their time.
to me, that’s what this was; a waste of time. if it wasn’t for school requirements, i would never read this

The writing, the characters, and Phineas, just ugh I loved this book. The reflection on the characters themselves and the way the story flows, not to mention the word combinations it was a truly enlightening read.
