Falling in love with an older man was never Salem’s plan. She has Caleb, her high school boyfriend who loves her more then anything, but yet she can’t help the feelings she develops for Thayer. Seeing him everyday makes the temptation hard to ignore and soon they find themselves entangled. They’re not prepared to fall in love, or for what tears them apart.
This duet was so beautifully written and even though they’re both pretty long books, they were such an easy read. Salem is such a strong and easy to love FMC and Thayer is the sweetest mmc. For me they made the perfect pair. The plot twist was unexpected and heartbreaking, and book 2 somehow puts it all back together again. This storyline will be one that is hard to forget

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. At the beginning it seemed like it would read a little corny with the standard smut sprinkled in, but I’m glad to say the story settled in well and I appreciated the medium burn of the two main characters and the imperfections in the relationship. I didn’t prepare to put my heart through the ringer either
Okay - I haven’t rated a book 5 stars in a while but this was such an easy read and I got too attached to the characters too fast. So good.

I….. haaaaaated this. I liked it until the last 10% and the ending of the book ruined it for me. two things happened that felt unnecessary and cruel to add.
I seriously recommend looking up TWs and not going into this book blind. I feel like they were used for shock value and just as plot devices that other things could have replaced. they also aren’t discussed with any care - it’s mentioned out of nowhere, deal with trauma, and then they hop right back into romance.
spoiler alert (I guess) for TWs: CSA, death of a child

Don't mind the low-star reviews, this is worth it. Read some reviews that the second book is not needed because an Epilogue for the first book would suffice, I beg to disagree. I adore age-gap reads but for the first time since I've started reading that trope, I rooted for the younger guy in this one.

The ending was terrible, and really the only part of this book that I felt much emotion towards.
But I just don’t feel a connection towards these characters. I’ll probably still read the second one just to finish out the series but, not really my favorite.

The age gap took a long time for me to get on board with, and once Thayer & Salem were together, they were so deeply involved so quickly that for me it didn’t feel real or genuine anymore. Really enjoyed the story as a whole, but I wish their relationship was slowed down a bit.
