I have been looking forward to the Wildflowers duet since I read the first blurb about it a few months ago. It has a few of my favorite tropes in it - age gap, nanny/boss, neighbors. I went into this book thinking it would be like most other age gape romances and that couldn't be further from the truth.
Salem is 18 when her new neighbor Thayer, 31, moves in. To say it was love at first sight would be a lie. Thayer is a grumpy divorced jackass who just wanted to be left alone. After Salem's sunshiney attitude and friendly persistence, she was able to get Thayer to open up more to her and they formed a friendship.
After time, their friendship blossomed into something more and we were along for the journey.
I loved Thayer so much throughout this book! He really was there for Salem in a way that no one has ever been before.
I will say, the last 15ish% of the book is completely traumatic and it comes out of nowhere. Completely and utterly tragic. I honestly felt for all of the characters because it was such an awful and terrible situation. I had to wait until the second book in the duet came out because I had previously read that the cliffhanger was INTENSE and it was. I was glad that I waited.
Overall, this was a good read and definitely would recommend!
