LOVE IT
I’m stunned. This book was so good! I didn’t expect it to take the turn it did at the end, and now I have to dive right into book 2! The angst, the spice, the romantic moments - it was all amazing. It was very emotional towards the end; tears were shed. Please check TW before you read (she lists them briefly at the beginning of the book)

Shheesshhh this book.
Honestly it took me a bit to get into. I felt the writing was too simplistic and really felt like an optimistic 18yr old. Which Salem is, so it works?
It also felt like I was reading the script to an indie film. The dialogue was short and awkward.
But once you get into it. It’s incredible
Thayer is everything you need love to be. He is also everything a broken heart can be.
Salem has been through shit, which is why she has a forced positive outlook.
I LOVE a good breakup. This one had me crying with so much sadness. And because it’s a duet, the breakup can last longer than a min.
Can’t wait for the next book

I should’ve DNF’d this. The writing? Cringe. The protagonist? Awful. The pace? All over the place. I’ve read books by this author before and felt like I enjoyed them, but this was HORRIBLE. I don’t even write reviews on goodreads normally, but I had to for this one. I hated this with a passion. And that ending? Forget it. I read spoilers for the second book so that I wouldn’t have to read it and hate myself for doing so.
An easy, quick read! Salem has a complicated past and you just want her to find happiness, but she can’t seem to catch a break. I loved seeing her fall in love, and the cliffhanger will leave you wanting more!
I was not prepared
There is a warning at the front of this book and I did not heed it. My fault. This was TOO MUCH. I’m not made for it. I realize I am in the minority given the great reviews. This book isn’t bad, but it’s just not my style. The writing was lacking something for me as well. I definitely won’t read the sequel.

I didn't dislike this book... It just 100% was nothing like I had expected, or was led to believe it was.
This book ended up ripping my heart out, stomping on it, and throwing it in the bin. My advice: Read the triggers! I don't typically have any triggers, but they definitely give a good indication of what this book leads to.
The writing is great, the characters are well developed, and the story is intense.
It has two of my least favourite tropes (single dad, cheating), as well as some seriously unexpected (unnecessary?) storylines, but it was well written and held my attention.
Thanks to Netgalley for the copy of this one!

This ending to this book absolutely broke me! So well written!!!
