Came here for the cover and left with my soul crushed. Def recommend.
This book was one of my top books of 2022.It is a duet so there will be a cliffhanger and no spoilers from me. Everything about this story pulled at my heart strings in such a way that was healing that I didn't even know I needed. Please check for any triggers you may have before jumping into this duet.
This book will take you through so many emotions you might not even be prepared for. I flew through this book in a day and started the second book that same day it was that good.
"Abusers don't deserve tears."
Thayer and Salem are such a cute couple despite their pasts they are there for each other. Even though the immature moments or the heartbreaking ones growth and change happens but it will tare your heart apart. There isn't too much I can say without spoiling it but by the end of book one i wasn't even sure how I wanted the next book to end. The rollercoaster ride was real in this story but I loved it.
-Age Gap
-Slowburnish
-Grumpy/ Sunshine
-Single Dad/ Babysitter
-Neighbors

Thayer has my heart, period.
The TWO reasons this was not a 5⭐️:
1. Not dual POV. I NEED to be inside both the mmc and fmc’s head. But eventually got used to the single POV.
2. Some parts felt a little choppy, maybe? Like it jumped around a lot. But again, I got used to it. So I didn’t mind it after about half way in.
I highly recommend this duet, so far! Starting book 2 immediately ♥️

It had every trope I liked age gap, single dad but it got very boring towards the middle. The girl had a very sweet boyfriend and yet she was distracted. It does have cheating and I didn't feel any angst towards doing the act. No though was thrown in as in oh god, I cant. Not even Thayer who was supposed to be a grown up dad. He made a gym for the girl but could build a treehouse for his child? He was good father but I think death pf a child was carelessly thrown in just because he didn't build a treehouse? I liked it but I couldn't love it. It was a good romance yet I felt few angst could have been avoided just for the sake of angst.
I LOVED this book!!! This book was really everything to me, I didn’t even realize it wasn’t dual POV till the end when she gave us a extra in Thayer’s pov! I loved Salem so much, she was so strong and even though she was only 18 turned 19 in this one she was sooo mature and wise beyond her years due to awful past trauma and honestly trauma now. This was a great coming of age story for her and I loved being her mind!!! I also loved Thayer he was the perfect older grumpy neighbour and a great father!! I loved the angst and slow burn we got with these two. I loved how Thayer was there for her in ways no one else has ever been for her. The ending of this book was so emotional and heart wrenching do not read it you’re not ready for that! I also loved the connection with hocus pocus, that is one of my favourite movies and I ate that up!

definitely the most enjoyable book i’ve read in a while. it was cute! maybe a halfish slow-burn? i felt a lot of different emotions while reading and i’m excited to see how the story continues in the next book.

Not a huge fan of this trope. Don't like the age gap and the ending set up for the sext book.
