I really appreciated how this book was informative, conversational, and also felt personal at the same time. I would definitely hand it to someone who was looking for a quick, easy to read primer on current social justice issues so they can become a better informed person and a better neighbor. Just knocked a point off because some of the topics needed a little more space for nuance and complexity, but the point of the book is to be a jumping off point for further investigation, so I understand that there wasn't space for in-depth analysis.

Having listened to Blair Imani's Smarter In Seconds videos, I can clearly hear her voice in these words she's written as I read and it helped in keeping me engaged throughout. I learned and re-learned a good amount and was very grateful for the relection questions at the ends of each chapters as well.

Overall a really good beginner primer on many topics. Some stuff in the disability section was inaccurate and the adoption section was woefully glossed over because many adoptees have a LOT to say about adoption and it's not all sunshine and rainbows. Could be a little more fleshed out with accuracies but decent.

This is a wonderful intro into living a more woke life, however I don’t think I was the intended audience. I didn’t feel like I really learned anything new, but I guess that is a good thing for me? I think Blair Imani is a wealth of information though, and I will always look at her for education.
