It had all the elements of stories I like with the secret book, hidden rooms, bookbinding and artists. But the writing left much to be desired.

I liked this third installment of The Daughters of La Lune. Delphine’s gift was interesting and I really liked how she grew and discovered her true fears as the book went on. I loved the inclusion of her Book of Hours of the time she shared with Mathieu. Having the characters visit the old estate to find Flamel’s book was an intriguing twist. I did love the scenes with Nicky and the butterflies. I was a little disappointed in what happened with her brother and that we never fully understand it from his perspective. Perhaps, Rose will write a last book? I did like the book a lot but out of all three my favorite is the second.

Delphine Duplessi is a daughter of La Lune, a member of a long line of witches, each with their own individual magick. Her talent is drawing people’s secrets and futures when she is wearing her satin blindfold. Even under ordinary circumstances, she is sensitive to feelings and intentions by seeing auras. These capabilities bring her more difficulties than benefits. For example, her visions lead her to abandon her one true love and do not help her locate Nicholas Flamel’s ancient book of alchemy.

If you are interested romance and an occult mystery, this is the book for you.

I am simply enjoying the Daughters of La Lune series and sadden that it's ended. I really would like to know Jardine story as well. Rose weave so much rich french history and occult together in a way that marriage with realism I found that drives the story. I adore the romance between Delphine and Matthieu, especially the flashback of their love from Delphine's book of confession. However I feel like during the third act the story started to drag and lost track with the focus on Delphine story with more attention on secondary characters. I started to be more interested in their story and wanting to know about their story. I also didn't quite like how the story ended sort of open-ended and things left unresolved between Delphine and her twin brother Sebastian. Overall the history of it all and the art world with all the amazing artists and artwork of Paris enriched the imagination which was accomplished by M.J. Rose beautiful words and vivid imagination.

The title and cover caught my attention, so I started with this book even though it's in the middle (or I guess the end, currently) of the series. I thought it was gonna be fun! Historical fiction with magic and love! It is great, but it's much more mature and thoughtful than I expected, slower.

It's satisfying and hopeful, but also slow and intense. I wanted to linger a bit more in the happiness and light, but that's my issue rather than the book's.

I'll probably go back and read the first two.

5 stars for being a master of what it is: a beautiful fantasy and love story in a picturesque world that is a page turner. Probably 3-4 stars for actual literary whatever.

I didn’t even realize this was a sequel until I went to add the book to goodreads. It works perfectly as a standalone. Honestly, it’s the perfect pandemic read -light hearted with magic and tension that isn’t overwhelming and a happy ending. What more could a reader in this genre ask for?

This books creates a rich post war France full of magic. The entire book is beautifully built up, but the ending will leave you very disappointed. It felt flat, and almost like an afterthought.
