If I have a fraction of the love in my heart and bravery in my bones of Corrie ten Boom, I would consider myself lucky. What an amazing woman she was.
"Oh that poor woman," Corrie cried. "Yes. May God forgive her," Betsie replied. And once again, Corrie realized that is was for the souls of the brutal Nazi guards her sister prayed.
A must read.
A must read.
A book about the deepest hate written with the deepest love. I really don’t have words. My mind and heart are buzzing with lots of feelings and thoughts.
This is a very religious book in a lot of ways, which I loved. I love to dive into others’ faith and see what they see. I might not have the same belief system, but in the end, I kinda do. Because the truth of the world is kindness and compassion. I found Corrie and Betsie’s faith to be refreshing and inspiring. Maybe miracles do happen once in a while.
We all need to be the Corrie and Besties of the world. I’m grateful this book exists and that I was able to read it.

Incredibly inspirational! I hope I can be even a little bit like Corrie and Betsie when trials and opportunities to serve others and stand for the right come.
This non-fiction testament to the deep and abiding faith of a Dutch family from the early 1900's to post WWII years held me captive. Flashing back to the author's early childhood to lay groundwork for understanding her growth in faith, I felt the book was perfectly paced, balancing the need for the reader to understand her journey with the authors' need to tell the story. And even though, as a work of nonfiction, you already knew the outcomes of the war and the author, the suspense kept me returning to the book every spare moment I had. I wept, I shook my head in amazement, I laughed, I cheered. At the end I felt that I want to become a better person, and was reminded how, although much horror is done in the name of religion, much more good is done in the name of God. I'll make time to read this book again...
