The second half was better than the first. I found myself annoyed and offended by Dunne's constant name dropping and smearing of his so-called friends and acquaintances. He betrayed so many confidences throughout this book.

Dnf. Only picked up in search of Joan Didion anecdotes but not worth wading through the rest.

I think I am more interested in Dominicks story, not the whole family.

A little over a year ago I watched After Hours (1985) for the first time and it immediately became one of my favorite films. It also introduced me to Griffin Dunne, who I’d previously been completely unaware of, but who I now know so much about. I don’t read a lot of memoirs, so the fact that I read this is how you know I really like him. I think he did a really fantastic job with this book. Crazy and heartbreaking and funny and touching. I really enjoyed it (:

So much name dropping of people I don’t know - it felt like reading the book of Genesis where there’s a lot of names and “stuff happening” but going nowhere and meaning nothing. Also read reviews and I don’t really want to read about his sex life or drug use. Maybe better for people who actually know the celebrities discussed in this book but idc

Not making the book club meeting for this so no reason to finish.
