Honestly not my fave CP Harris book and also upset she managed to get the pregnancy trope into an MM romance

Phoenix was 18years old senior in high school when one day, the philosophy professor - Sebastian Wicked, went into his classroom to become their temporary teacher. The teacher turned out to be his neighbor as well so they spent some evenings together where forbidden love bloomed between the two. I started from liking the story to hating it to being indifferent about it to liking it again. The story started with Phoenix still grieving from losing his father and Sebastian in the brink of his divorce. I have mixed feelings about the age gap. At first it was intriguing to read about but then it felt like Wicked turned manipulative emotionally against Phoenix (eg. constantly ask Phoenix what he wants to assure himself what he himself wanted was right). But I kinda really like the story after the plot twist. Phoenix amending his relationship with his mother was great to read about as well as him journeying out of comfort zone to find himself. That is what raise the book to three stars for me. Also love the Six Pack gang - especially Theory, Danny and Mason.

Not as hard hitting as I would have expected given the taboo nature of the teacher/student relationship.
There was actually very little conflict having to do with the fact that they were teacher/student. Almost as if this story could have been any age gap romance.
Still, it was good. CP Harris hasn't totally let me down yet. There are things about the last couple of books by the author that didn't hit home or leave me satisfied.
Nothing to do with the romances in most cases, but I have noticed really strong parent/child relationships in her books. This book in particular. In fact, I was more emotional about the son losing his father than I was about Phoenix and Wicked.

Unexpected but surprisingly really good. Easy going and has some nice heat. The romance was different but I enjoyed it

Darkly beautiful

Will start by saying this is not your typical love story, it's darkly beautiful and poetic. Phoenix & Sebastian are two forces both meant to be each other but not at this particular time. Their chemistry is undeniable yet so much stands against them from being together. Rae emotions throughout truly beautiful piece of writing.
