Dex and Perry go camping !

I love it when these two camp, nothing is sexier. Now if that pest Big Foot would just go off into the woods and die and take psycho macho tag-a-long with him ! Something really cool happens to the psycho, you'll see. :)
Finally these two have to talk. After everything that happened in the last heart breaking book, I really needed some communication here. Yes, I am involved with these two butt heads too much. Don't judge. Okay, so their talking is as lame arse as they can push it. This girl can hold a grudge. I wanted somebody to wack her upside the head more than once but she'd probably get amnesia and forget everything. Where would that leave the relationship ? Things happen, big changes things, FINALLY ! I really don't need to get int to the story, just know that the ending is really frecking satisfying !

Spooky creatures in the woods, crazy apparitions, screams in the night. Yep, Dex and Perry are together again, taking us on another wild ride.

Perry thought this would be an easy way to get back into the EiT show. After all, Bigfoot isn't real. Right? So she and Dex take off into the wild of Canada, with a guide who is quite possibly just as dangerous as what ends up chasing them through the forest. Then there is Dex suddenly seeing the ghost of his dead mother, and you have another terrifying good time.

I wanted to shake Perry more than once in this one. For once, Dex is the one wide open, all his cards out on the table. But Perry is so hurt and so angry, she keeps forgetting that she screwed up too, just as badly as he did. Over and over again, she lashes out, she hurts, and she pushes down what she really wants, out of fear. In the end though, I was finally satisfied. No, everything perfect, but things between Dex and Perry rarely are, but finally we are left with a sense of optimism, that things are finally on the right track for these two.

So of course you know the shit is gonna hit the fan again when the next book comes out this June, and I can't wait.

So far this is my least favorite book of the series. The only redeemable thing is the relationship progression between Dex and Perry. I cheered out loud many times while reading this. But I felt let down because all the other stories had my heart racing out of my chest. This one I skimmed unless it dealt with Dex and Perry expressing their feelings.

I am absolutely loving my re-read of the Experiment in Terror series. Each book is even better than I remembered and [b:Into the Hollow|13617933|Into the Hollow (Experiment in Terror, #6)|Karina Halle|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1602889862l/13617933._SY75_.jpg|19220748] is no exception.

While (for me) this one doesn't have the creepy factor of ghosts/demons, it still has more than enough action and suspense to make up for it.

There is also no shortage of intensity in Dex and Perry's personal relationship. I really can't recommend this series enough.

2 ½ stars but I just can’t bring myself to round up.
Into the Hollow picks up right where On Demon Wings left off. Perry was medically cleared at the hospital and sent home because despite what she believes, no insurance company wants to pay exorbitant amounts of money for unneeded treatment (they barely want to pay reasonable amounts of money for necessary care). Still, she’s feeling very vulnerable living at home; her former psychiatrist had the nerve to suggest to her parents that they keep an eye on her and she doesn’t know how she can look her mother in the eye knowing that she “put Perry’s grandmother away and condemned her to a horrible life”. Oh wait, Pippa, Perry’s grandmother; by her own admission tried to kill herself by jumping in front of a train and then mentally deteriorated so badly she needed round the clock care. So, the State hospitalized Pippa not Perry’s mother – a fact both Pippa and Perry (2 founding members of the “Take no responsibility, Blame everyone else” Club) shockingly can’t see.

Perry (speaking of being a club member) is still furious at Dex for having sex with her then dissing her and breaking her heart. Forget that Perry intentionally manipulated Dex into having sex with her when she knew he was vulnerable, intoxicated and struggling with an (albeit tumultuous and ambivalent) relationship with his long term, live in girlfriend. Still he owed her, despite that they had no conversations about expectations and intentions. But Perry needs to get out of her parent’s home before it’s One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and with no money and no job it’s either Dex or Maximus and since Maximus bailed Dex out of jail, Dex wins. Dex for his part is claiming to be a changed man. He cares about Perry and is going to do everything in his power to make things right. Unfortunately, he’s also a card-carrying club member. On the drive to Seattle Dex has himself a little impassioned “you didn’t tell me, and I had a right and that was my baby too” hissy; and I’m sorry…. when the last words you say after sex are “You’re just reading too much into this. Typical” – get the fuck out of here with “your rights”. Poor Fatty Rab, forced to live with these twatwaffles.

So that’s how Perry came to be living with Dex in Seattle and then back to working on Experiment in Terror and off to the Rockies in BC to hunt a Sasquatch plaguing a llama outfitter who organizes camping and hunting trips. Just when you’re expecting to get on with the story and for things to start getting squatchy….sadly we get visited by the relationship drama llamas. Into the Hollow focuses more on Dex and Perry and their relationship and the story is secondary. Since right now I don’t like either Dex OR Perry and aside from thinking that they deserve each other – have no other “feels” about their “relationship”….I was less than entertained. The squatch story did pick up towards the end but it was too little, too late. Rest In Peace Apricot.

Ms. Halle has got me back on track with this one. It’s not that I didn’t like „On Demon Wings“ I did but this was so much better for me. 5 Stars.

After the whole possession thing, Perry has to walk a fine line so that she doesn’t get locked up by her own parents. I mean how sick is that right?

Perry doesn’t really have a lot of options there is Maximus the King of Douchecanoes and a ginger nut to boot or Dex, thankfully Dex has got his shit together and steps up. I’ve also decided as Perry was possessed that she slept with Maximus doesn’t count. Noone in their right mind would. Buh, Maximus.

“What did Dex say?” she asked. “Actually he asked me to move in with him.” Ada beamed. “That’s my boy.” I laughed and gave her a funny look. “Your boy? I have to be honest; I’m not used to Little Fifteen being on Team Dex. I’m not even sure I like it.”

So Perry and Dex are living together right? Ackward, ah yeah! But they can’t help not fall into a pattern with one another again. Fat Rabbit is here again (God I love that name so much)

Jimmy manages to convince Perry and Dex to sign on with Experiment in Terror but they don’t want anything to do with ghosts. So this time they are in the Candian Mountains searching fort he Sasquatsh or more commonly known as Bigfoot. Doesn’t exist right? Yeah well think again. They stay the night in a hotel and the banter is back.

“Who is it?" I asked teasingly
"Bigfoot," Dex answered from his room.
"What do you want, Mr Foot?"
"Please, just call me Big."
I snorted. "You wish."
"You know.”

So they go on their mission and as usual it gets creepy. To get so far in to the mountains they have to take Lamas up the mountain. Dex is paired with the Lama from hell. The little shit.

“I feel kind of bad for calling him Twatwaffle now.”
“You should feel bad,” I yelled. “For all we know, Twatwaffle saved our lives and maybe Mitch did too. There’s obviously something out here. Who the fuck decapitates a llama?”
“I’m sure this particular llama was on many a hit list.”

Then there is Mitch, Mitch reminds me of The Shining and how it went crazy. So Dex to the rescue and they try to go back home as it is too dangerous.

“I feel great.” He said. Then he grinned at me and patted his rifle. I shook my head quickly, taking an involuntary step ahead of him. “That has to be the worst idea on earth.” “What?, You don’t trust me?” “I don’t trust you with a shovel Dex.” “Touche”

Well done Perry you managed to get your head out of your arse and they are trying at least and I can feel the love spreading.

“I love you Perry,” he whispered, mouth moving in my hair. “I love you so fucking much. And I’m losing myself. I’m losing myself to you and I don’t care anymore because there’s never been a better feeling in the whole fucking world. I love you. So much. Too much. Always.”

I’m trying to savor these books and spread them out.
