This is my 3rd attempt at this book, and now I was able to finish it an I absolutely love it.

At my first attempt (audiobook), I just stopped listening almost halfway, without any specific reason, just life taking over my time differently.

At my second attempt (book), I couldn’t really get into the drama, plus reading while waiting for 8 hours in an airport terminal isn’t really the most inspiring envoronment for reading.

Now on my 3rd attempt (audiobook), I fell in love. Although the English is not easy for me as my mother tongue is not English (and I have no idea what Joseph says), I loved the passion between Catherine and Heathcliff, the effect that and all the family dynamics have on every character and generations, the atmosphere and even more I don’t know how to express. What also helped me in my appreciation, is to read annotations alongside, to better grasp and appreciate the complexity and craftmanship of the novel.

I will definitely reread this in book format.

I’m so sorry for the people who love this book but it read like a book-tok mafa romance (especially the main love interest). Had to DNF after two chapters, because the beginning of chapter 2 is concerning at best. Overall: Perfect if you want a good hate read.

Ok I’ll give it 3.5 stars. I think I had higher expectations for it since it’s a classic but I just felt like it was a little slow, especially in the beginning. Also, definitely not a romance novel so don’t know why people say it is.
