I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, as I have a hit-or-miss record with YA. But overall the writing was really great, the characters felt real, and I enjoyed it!

Where it lost a bit for me was that it started to drag towards the end. I didn’t feel like we got enough character development from Andie, and the stuff with her dad bothered me. I get that he was grieving, but I just don’t think his actions were justified.

I also found it funny how Andie seemed to have all the answers at 18 or 19 or whatever. To be giving advice to teachers about relationships when she’s only ever been with one guy
who is a major asshole and cheated on her
was pretty laughable.

VERY cliche and by the book when it comes to romances, but I adored all the characters and the story here, even if the ending felt a little rushed.

3.5 stars. Cute, with a lot of themes that really resonated with me, but ultimately felt like it's not going to be that memorable.

Funny, poignant, bittersweet (just like that coffee!).

Favorite character: the chickens.

Diverse representation. Humor. Compassionate writing about grief and how it affects people differently. Forbidden romance. Books, bagels, and broadcasts. I’m excited to read more Emma Lord, as her writing is feel-good to me.
