Well worth the read, especially for the fact that it barely resembles the "conventional" story everyone apparently knows from the movies. There's no stitching-together corpses, no lightning bolts and Tesla coils, no wretched assistant. Victor is not, and never was, a doctor - he never even graduated college - and his method is based on alchemy rather than science.
It also deserves reading as a study of character dynamics and as a landmark in the development of science fiction, horror and suspense.
