I've never read any Agatha Christie, so I don't know what compelled me to read this. Two alternating story lines, the temporary disappearance of Agatha and Nan's youth and subsequent pregnancy, intertwined to form somewhat of a mystery. There was an unexpected twist, which I guess is de rigueur for mystery novels. The author herself admits true mystery aficionados may have seen that twist coming.

I actually Googled Agatha, Archie, and Nancy Christie to see how much of this was true as much of the mystery of Agatha's disappearance seemed way too farfetched to be factual. I took umbrage at the liberties the author took with Agatha's life.

Once again, a mystery disappoints me. I don't like them. Why do I continue to read them?

Best book I’ve read in a long time.

I love Agata Christie and I really wanted to love this book, as it's a fictional story allegedly centered around her mysterious disappearance in 1926.
Alas, there was hardly any Agatha Christie in the book. Instead, it felt like it was all about the miracle of having children, and as I'm strongly agaist that, descriptions (multiple) of breast milk soiling Nan's apron just made me sick. I admit, terrible thing happened to her, but she went completely nuts. I could only feel sorry for poor Finbarr. I thought this book would never end.

Honestly, I did not care for Nan, didn’t understand why she was the narrator, and actually skipped some of her chapters. I was curious about the mystery that stretched overly long throughout the book but the ending left me feeling deflated. Really a 2.5 but rounding up because Goodreads still doesn’t have half stars.

I like that this book incorporates a mystery into the story. I haven’t read much Christie but it felt right.
