Audiobook. Full disclosure: I found the first 2/3 of this book draggy and a bit boring at times. For some reason, I was really hoping it would turn into some kind of spy adventure story with Agatha being an agent of MI6 or something. So I almost gave up… then I got to Part 3 and hit the twist that I didn’t see coming - clearly I wasn’t paying attention. Part 3 made up for Parts 1&2, so stick with it if you’re feeling bored! 😁

While I loved the concept of this book - an imagining of the eleven days Agatha Christie went missing in 1926 including an Agatha Christie-esque murder mystery - the execution fell flat for me.

If I had to sum my thoughts up in one sentence they'd be "utterly bonkers, yet somehow enjoyable!" :D
Where to start? This is very, very loosely based on the 11-day disappearance of Agatha Christie in 1926, and on her husband Archie's affair. However, most of the book is pure fiction - the trick is working out which bits! There's a story told by flashback that weaves through the disappearance story, which is also based on things that really happened (nothing to do with the Christie family), and the two stories overlap cleverly, if not quite convincingly (I don't want to say to much about this part as I don't want to give anything away). One reviewer on the cover of the book says it "literally out-Christies Agatha" - I'm not sure I agree with this statement. The ending is pure bunkum and the reader has to really suspend disbelief, but despite this, I thought it was a good yarn!

It's not action packed but it was an easy read. I enjoyed and recommend it, though the ending was very abrupt.
