So. I’m a hugeee Lapena fan. Her books are always 5 ⭐️ for me, but this one fell a bit flat. For one I found there were too many characters and I kept getting confused. The characters were pretty one dimensional and had these odd backstories that arose very randomly. Second, the book dragged, there was so much guessing and so much unnecessary information given, a lot of repetition, I just wanted it to get to the point. I did oddly want to keep reading but I was disappointed in the ending, it was lacklustre. I will say I couldn’t figure it out, I had theories but was a bit surprised but still not overly thrilled. One thing I love about Lapena is she always keeps me guessing until the last second. On to the next!

Fun, easy, mystery read! A not too spooky “who done it”
If you like Knives out/glass onion kinda stuff it’s a fun one to pick up.

Imitation of Agatha Christie's style but not that good. I got tired because it was repetitive, characters were flat and the ending was unsatisfying. It was 230 pages and the explanation was wrapped up in 5 pages.

I knew very little about the plot going in to this book, other than a bunch of people are staying at a remote hotel in winter, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect going in.
The atmosphere was definitely my favorite part, it had this creepy feel that really sucked me in. I also enjoyed the bulk of the story immensely, I was never sure what would happen next, and that's always a lot of fun in a thriller. The characters weren't too likable, but I don't think they were supposed to be. David was probably the best one to me, mostly just because he actually has some common sense and intelligence. The ending was okay, it wasn't as satisfying as I would've liked, but it could've been way worse. As for that final twist...
Overall a pretty good read, it really makes me want to read more by Shari Lapena.

I hated the married couple throughout the whole story, especially Henry, but that just left a sour taste in my mouth. It just seemed a little hard to believe I guess.Overall a pretty good read, it really makes me want to read more by Shari Lapena.
