Very cool.

Fantastic! It's a sweeping epic full of action and adventure, and so cinematic! I could vividly imagine every scene, though there were some characters whose names I struggled to keep straight. I can't wait for the other books in this series to be translated and published

Absolutely wonderful! This is a must read for anyone who loves kung fu movies or squeals in glee when hearing, "She could see at a glance the power of his kung fu." The audiobook was quite good, and I even enjoyed the appendices.

(Review from a very early advance copy)

I absolutely love this.

It's the debut in English of Jin Yong, whose books have sold more than 300 million copies. It's a martial arts epic, dramatic, all-encompassing, and thrilling. I can't wait to read the next chapters.

I understand how it is a classic in the genre, I recognize several archetypes in here from more recent books. I look forward to reading the second.

With a classic tea house chapter structure, this book is really a gem among wuxia literature. Legend of the condor heroes is a great series, and I can’t wait to read more

This is actually my first time reading a historical fantasy book. Honestly, it took me a while to get into the story. At the first few pages of the book, we were introduced to the characters that will be appeared/be mentioned in the book, which for me helps a lot because there are too many characters. I don't label them as the main characters. They are the side characters. Some of them have appeared throughout the stories, and some of them just mentioned or appeared in a few parts to spice up the story.

These characters could be the strong point or maybe a weak point. It depends on how the reader views this book as a whole. In my opinion, as someone who is easily distracted while reading, I tend to be distracted because of these characters as I need to keep going through the front page to identify which characters are which.

Plot-wise, I kind of like it. This narration is too detailed but not dragging. For me, there is no unnecessary plot. And the plot twist! I really love it when the author did a character reveal at the end of the book like who is actually who. I actually could figure it out before the author reveals the character but I still find it surprising.

I honestly, can't wait to get my own copy for the second book because this book is actually quite interesting. I recommend this book for someone who looking for something new or someone who always love China historical fantasy genre.
